Professional Photography Tips For Newbies

There are two aspects to professional photography tips that will be covered here. Both, however, fall under one very important "rule". This rule is followed by professional photographers the same way devout religious folks follow their religion.
The rule is perfection.
Average viewers of art, such as photography, seem to think that great works are a result of talent. While talent does have some part, the greater part has to do with an obsession with perfection. And in photography, this perfection covers two aspects: visual composition and proper camera settings.
Visual Composition
Of all the digital photography tips, visual composition is the most useful for improving the way your photos look. Composition basically involves the way you place objects in the image and how you arrange the perspective.
There are many "Rules" to composition that have been established through the hundreds of years of artwork. Such examples include "rule of thirds", "leading lines" etc. These rules are very useful for newbies first starting out at photography. They will help you find the right angles and place your camera in the right place.
Camera Settings
The next aspect to professional looking images is setting your camera right. No matter how properly composed your image, if it is blurry or excessively grainy from poor exposure choices it will be amateur at best.
As a beginner, the best solution is to start out with easier camera modes than full manual. If you have an SLR camera, try experimenting with aperture and shutter priority modes. Stay away from fully automatic modes as this mode is often the reason beginners have blurry photos.
The more control you have over the camera settings, the more you can reach that "perfectionism" that is sought after by the pro photographers. As you start out, try controlling individual things such as the aperture, ISO, shutter, etc. Once you get a grasp of each of these, try controlling them all at the same time.
When you get a solid grasp of both of these aspects of photography and can take clean looking images, the next step is to begin experimenting creatively. You can, of course, begin experimenting right now! However, realize that having technical limitations can limit your creativity if you do not know how to work around it.
